After sitting around for six weeks with my arm in a sling, I thought when the sling came off (at least in the house), I'd be able to do something...not quite. My elbow, wrist and hand were so swollen from being immobilized in the sling (through no fault of their own-after all I'd broken my shoulder) I really couldn't do anything. I do however have a great physical therapist so while most of the sessions are spent on my shoulder (it will take about a year of PT and even then I probably will not have 100% range of motion) he gave me exercises for my elbow, wrist and hand.
I faithfully do all my home exercises 3 times a day and voila! Shoulder wise things are improving all the time (I can now raise arm and actually put on deodorant the normal way instead of kind of sneaking into my underarm from underneath -probably more than you wanted to know:) I'm even starting to sew this week!!
I have the setting blocks for the last embroidered mystery quilt to sew
into blocks
so that's what I'm going to do...an easy way to get started and let's see how I do. Wish me luck.

Hi Miri, i was thinking of you just recently and just now i received your comment on my blog, imagine that! oh you poor thing, what a horrible thing to happen and to be immobilzed for so long..ouch!! btw i love your blocks they look like vintage feedsacks..love 'em!!
rest up and don't try to do too much, too soon :))))
cheers...Marian xx
so glad to read that you are doing better. PT is a wonderful thing. Daughter broke her elow when young and couldn't bend it very much afterward. The PT got it almost back to full range and then time and use did the rest.
Glad you're able to sew again! Love those blocks!
so glad that you left a comment on my blog and I found you again after accidentally deleting you from my google reader during cleaning it up. I am so sorry to hear you broke your shoulder and will go back several post and see what happened. I do hope you PT will solve the mobility problems and you will be back 100% soon.
Oh, Miri, how good to see you back posting!!! I've missed you. Great to see you back "making" again, too.
I've been missing around here myself and was thinking about you and then read about what happened and I was ready to leave you a comment when you posted this. So glad to have you back and mending and back at sewing.
Did not realize that you had broken you shoulder. Ouch! I am happy that you are doing better. It does take a while to heal from shoulder fractures.
Take Care,
Linnea

Glad to see you're sewing again and successfully rehabbing the shoulder. May you have continued good results from PT and more fun sewing now.
