Vintage Thursday Thingie:Thanksgiving Hooked "Rug"

I don't think this is really a rug but a seat cover and no, I don't think this is really a turkey but a rooster but it is the only hooked rug style piece I own and I love it.
Look at how much brighter the colors are on the back where they were protected from the light.

It usually sits here on our antique deck chair-late 19th century (which you can't sit on because its been repaired twice and we were told can't survive anyone else "plopping down" on it. The other Guardians of the Chair are my handiwork and not vintage.)

In this season of thankfulness, I am thankful for both Lisa and Suzanne.

Miri, love the hooked rug and it that sweet little doll shares her seat with a very cool pillow. Did you use trapunto on it? that is a great piece of art.

oh, that little rug is just adorable. I love the rocking chair too.

I have the link back up for VTT. Sorry for the problems with this...I am new! I will have this sorted out, I promise. You might want to try and link back again.

So pretty. Too bad the colors have to fade. Oh well, we can't always cover everything up either. Does displaying things on your chair help keep people from sitting on it?

I love these rug chair seats and they are very difficult to find.

The rooster/turkey rug looks very
nice on the vintage chair! Nice
display to avert possible chair sitters!

I have a chair or two like that--the kind no one is to plop on--or they will be s-o-r-r-y! They were hand me downs from my grandparents or further back! Thanks for sharing! And I love your quilts! I myself am a quilt afficianado, but not a quilter. So far, I'm just a 'piecer' and not too good at that! But it's fun.

That is SO true about the backs of the rugs. Such a shame that the pretty part is hidden from view. Love this one you have! and I have several chairs that need protecting in the same manner. :-)
