New Applique Project
I've started a new applique project.
Its an old Mountain Mist design-you know, one of the designs that was originally on the inside of the quilt batt wrapper- although I am not using the original setting. I've done one block so far-I'm planning on 9-and it will be for a class that starts next month so I better get going. I think its a great design for teaching needle turn applique-it has curves and points, etc.-its just missing inner points but I'll cover that in my border design.
I have one more block basted up but that's it. Lots to do...I'll try to remember to take pix as I go so I can share my process too.

I like it. A few weeks ago I took an applique class using the P3 technique of preparing the pieces with starch and then gluing them in place before stitching. I keep trying more things with the needle turn in my quest for perfect points. I think practice is the key.
I've seen that pattern in my Mountain Mist book. It is beautiful and look forward to see how you set it. Thanks for sharing!

What I love about this pattern is that it has the sweetness of an old fashioned quilt but the graphic punch that it could go in a modern quilt too. Love that iris. Too bad I stink it up with applique ;)
very nice. I like the modern fabrics for a traditional pattern. Looking forward to additional photos.
