Vintage Thursday Thingie: Beaded Evening Bag

This Parisian black satin beaded evening bag, from the late 1920's, belonged to my MIL. I imagine she bought it on the same several months long visit as the net lingerie bag that I shared earlier on VTT.

You can see one of the inside labels: Romance, 90 Champs Elysees, Paris...isn't that the most perfect name for a store selling beaded evening bags! I wonder what other wonderful things they had in stock! Under this label, is another smaller one that reads: Hand Made in France.

Here are some close-ups of the beaded flowers. You can see tiny crystal beads as well as colored ones.

Look at the colors on this flower-- still bright and clear as ever.

What a wonderful evening bag, can you just imagine the possibilities that could have came from a store like that? This looks to be in fabulous shape. I like old evening bags, especially ones that are as pretty as this one.

Have a great VTT!

The bag is absolutely stunning! What a treasure. You can tell that it was hand made with great care. I bet there were lots of pretties in a store called Romance!

Those were popular evening bags years back. And surprisingly, they have a lot similar today that people still use.

What a sweet little evening bag! Ladies used to dress up so neat with everything matching - I can imagine the lovely shoes and dress that was part of this outfit!!! Don't know what it is like in your part of the country but it is so laid back here hardly anyone even wears a dress to church. I have a closet full of clothes that are just dying to come out of the dark and show off but no place to wear them!!

Yes......I'm trying to imagine such a place to shop and visit in Paris but I have no such reference point. lol.
How glorious it must have been!
It's a beautiful bag, it would look so pretty with just a plain simple black dress. Do you get to go out with it?

Lovely bag... divine beading. What a wonderful treasure. And I have to admit...one of my earliest books... was I think Honey Bunch and her big adventure. It has been too long...but the book was my mothers...and I read it when I first learned to read chapter books. It certainly brought back a good childhood memory when I read it on your blog.
