This and that applique and embroidery

I finished the February and March blocks for the A Tisket A Tasket BOM. I'm having alot of fun doing these but for now, applique is on hold. Allergy season has struck and even with medication, my eyes tear so much that I can't applique, I sneeze so vigorously and unexpectedly that I'm afraid to rotary cut and sewing on the machine, between the tears and the sneezes just isn't a good idea. But don't feel too sorry for me, there is always embroidery!
Here are two of the vintage embroidery patterns I showed last week...the girl and the boy will become pot holders soon. I also decided to try my hand at punchneedle embroidery.

I had no idea what I was doing but I was having alot of fun and I love the way this has turned out. It will be made into a pillow. The design is from an antique quilt, the Wickersham Signature Quilt. I got the book of patterns while visiting York, PA two years ago. There are lots of these funky basket blocks with the baskets way too small for the flowers. I love them!
I just picked up the needlepunch and pearl cotton and started away on the design I'd traced on the muslin. As I went along, I thought that I really didn't know what I was doing... why were there those big loops popping up and did I really need to knot? I found this great tutorial at Ribbons and Lace Cottage and after that things went even quicker and more smoothly.
I'm thinking of doing another...I love chenille and this is kind of similiar!

I don't even have allergies, and my head feels like a balloon his morning.
I LOVE the fabrics you are using for your baskets. I have not seen anyone else doing them like this.. in such bright colors. Wonderful!

Oh Miri I can feel for you along with the crud and coughing, I am sneezing and tearing up and the meds just make me shake so it is ever so hard to paint or sew. Hope it leaves soon. Love all of you pictures and items you are doing, especially the pot holders. I love little people embroderies.

For me, trees are the culprit. I am having a hard time even seeing to embroider. I've gone back to knitting: the stitches are bigger.

I too suffer terribly with allergies and am all drugged up right now. It gets really bad around here. The new meds don't do what good old Benedryl does but I am so sleepy. Your blocks are so cute. Thanks for the link on punch needle. I am going to do more.

I love love love the smell of lilacs, they are just now starting to open up. Dh brought in a couple blooms I put in a cup with some tulips kids gave me on the bus. It looks pretty and smells wonderful. And then the nose starts itching and eyes watering. I don't care I love the lilacs so much. lol I am staying away from the cotton wood trees though. We really should cut those down before they fall on the dairy.

Punch needle embroidery? never have done that. I believe I will check out the link you posted. May be something I want to try. I like the look of what you have done. Thank you for shareing.

Hi Miri!

How sweet of you to come by and visit me! I am so glad you liked the tutorial. When I was working on it I realized how easy punch-needle was after you get the hang of it that I felt sort of silly doing a tutorial on it at all; I was focused on the grungy jar, really. So I am glad you found the little information I put in there to be helpful.

My daughter said of your "Tisket-a-Tasket": "Those are the colors I would use if I was making one!"

Have a nice day!

Love the background fabric on your baskets...
so bright and happy, 1930 looking.
Your punch needle is lovely too, I can't seem to get into that craft.

I like those little boy and girl embroidery blocks, Miri. You won't actually be using those potholders, right, LOL? The punchneedle looks great and looks like fun. Maybe that punchneedle I bought years ago, and never used, will show up again one day...
